I guess just as a quick note, Forest Colony's haze is really easy for some people to shoot through at long distances because of their monitors/settings. Those who don't adjust settings for that map usually end up not being able to fight long range while their opponent continually crushes them. The difference in visual settings between players would lead me to recommend Canyon Network with Bravo Spawns, or Frozen City Night again. Regular Forest Colony has become a pretty low-quality map while Frozen City remains high IMO.
Maybe a map rotation between 4-5 viable maps throughout the tournament maps sense? I also understand wanting to keep it the same map, though, so it's a tough call.
So like:
Map 1: Frozen City Night Map 2: Canyon Network (Bravo Spawns only) Map 3: Caustic Valley (Bravo Spawns only)
Those are great 1v1 maps.

Frozen City Night is one of my favorite maps in the game, however I was given some very solid arguments as to why Forest Colony was a better choice, and I made an "executive" decision and we are going to stick with Forest Colony/Forest Colony Snow for the May event. Going to ride this one out and see how it goes, and also so people don't need to worry about constant map or format changes before the event.
However, I am open to ALL suggestions for the June event, and will definitely keep this post in mind when determining maps for the June event.
I am hoping to be able to do this once a month on a pretty consistent date, and perhaps also start a 1v1 ladder. Been having a lot of ideas tumbling around in my head.

Im with Heim on this one, to be honest and i mentioned it in another thread, random map will really sort the men from the boys, better players can adapt to whatever situation they are put in. Heims right, odds are its going to be a bit of a snipe fest and any great brawler pilots, although they can win, are at a distinct disadvantage. I'm in the light bracket and I dont really care what map specifically for myself but for others in the heavy / assault bracket etc its going to become quite predictable mechs / loadouts, losing variety and will make it become somewhat repeatitive I fear.

Most of maps in current state of MWO favor long and mid-rangy builds. If you make it random this will not help brawlers I like the set of maps proposed by heimdelight.

old i recently won a 1v1 tournie on random and I used a brawling aws-8r most the time. It's all about the pilots ability to adapt
