2v2 Think Tank

I know a number of you are very eager for the 2v2 so...

• Either June 6th or June 13th for the 2v2.

• Going to be aiming for an early-ish start time so our overseas friends can play without staying up late hours. Trying to find a solid middle ground compromise because I know many people in NA timezones have daytime commitments on weekends.

• Maps I am feeling are Canyon Network, Frozen City Night, and Caustic Valley.

• Theta Cap format.

• Thinking of doing two “divisions”… Sweeper and Striker.
Sweeper: 100 ton weight limit. No Mech restrictions. No weapon restrictions.
Striker: 170 ton weight limit. No Mech restrictions. No weapon restrictions.

• Possibly double elimination depending on how many teams sign up.

This is all up for debate and discussion, let me know what you think!

I'd prefer weight classes, but if we're going by division then a smaller one would be nice. Mostly because I want to do 2v2 Lights.

My only concern with weight classes is the turnout for some of them if I have all four available. Although for 2v2, maybe splitting them so each event has two different tonnage groups, for four tonnage groups overall split in two events would work best.

Sweeper - 65 tons
Striker - 105 tons
Mauler - 145 tons
Command - 180 tons

I think a 60-70, a 100-120, and a 170-190 would be good.

70 tonns is equal to 2 firestartes - better have 65 for two lights) more variety.

In regards to scheduling i'd like to suggest...

Post the match up between team 1 and team 2 then give teams a few days to a week to have the match completed and submit screenshots. This will allow teams to schedule their own time for matches.

Sorry darkfawkes, but our plan is for 1v1 and 2v2 to always be one day tournaments. We feel this is a much better format for tournaments like this.

We are pondering on a very unique tournament that will be spread out over a few weeks, but I am still doing the math for that in my head as well as preparing sending out some feelers to see what players think.

Sounds good to me. I'm curious if you guys have a tentative date for registrations?

Ummm... hmmm... I don't really want to open registrations until things like the date and weight restrictions are nailed down... but if people want to, I can make a pre-registration section is people want to sign up "blind".

I think June 6th is too soon considering we just had one this weekend. Don't want to have these events so close to each other.
